Yes, you can. However, there may be lags due to the optimization issues of emulators.
Recommended to us 8GB x2 RAMs with 3000MHz or above speed for more performance as an APU system depends on RAM speeds.
Q. I'm building a pc. I'm considering to use R5 3400g cpu, 16 gb 3000 mhz ram. I do not stream, I just play games in medium settings. I also use the pc for photo editing. Kindly suggest the Motherboard, psu for this setup.
A. You may opt for any B450 motherboard for this CPU with support for 3000Mhz RAM. A 550W SMPS with 80+ bronze certification or above is recommended.
Q. can i play AAA games like far cry series, call of duty, fifa 18 above, wwe 2k etc with this APU.

A. If you are planning to go with this APU, then you should opt for 2 x 8 GB sticks of 3000Mhz or higher frequency. Also, I hope you are opting for a good 80+ certified PSU as well.

The motherboard you choose is great for future upgrades. You may upgrade from the basic APU to high-end CPU and discrete GPU in near future for most performance.

The APU RAM usage is adaptive. When the graphics of the APU need RAM
they use it. When that RAM is not in use - it is just system memory.
More memory means your system can pre-load more texture data into RAM,
reducing the need to access the disk and increasing performance. Thus a dual channel with high frequency RAMs (above 3000MHz) will definitely improved the system performance during games. As for memory size, the more the better for your PC.
